Phantom Speedbikes perform a range of activities and services.

We have experience with Adaptive Cycling equipment and are currently expanding into Adaptive winter skiing equipment.

We produce unique and leading edge custom cycling equipment that has led to multiple successful human powered vehicle world records.

We have years of experience in all aspects of composites manufacturing methods and fibre conversion processes:

2001-current: basic wet lay and wet lay combined with vac bagging

2003-2005: hot press moulding

2004-2009: rapid cure and partial prepreg via liquid/bladder moulding (leading to a PhD in composites material science

2009-2011: resin bath saturation, bladder inflation and resin expulsion

2009-current: vacuum infusion

2010-current: low pressure resin transfer moulding (upto 8barr) via simple bucket pumps, through to fully automated systems, including differential tool heating to manage cure shrinkage

2015-current: high pressure resin transfer moulding (upto 50barr) including world first pressure accumulation technology to manage thermal shrinkage during cure

2016: International Specialised Skills Australia Fellow: MSA Australia Rilda Mossop - I was fortunate to visit a wide range of composite industry leaders and speacialist, from preforming Institutions, resin injection specialists, Fibre converters (Braiding, pre-preging, stitching, Jackard and 3D loom weaving, pick-and-place dry fibre placement, tow winding)

We have experience and a strong track record industrialising novel manufactring processes for converting dry fibre into RTM structures including:

- high volume composite manufacturing,

- inception, design and execution of novel composite maunfacturing processes

- pioneering experience in composite preforming, and sub-preform manufacturing processes

- design, testing and validation of complex composite wheel structures

- fabrication of moulds, tooling and components from hand crafted through to design and fabrication of steel and aluminium tooling

- design and fabrication of simple small scall machinery ranging through to fully automated and industrial composite manufacturing solutions utilizing strategic industry partners

-extensive experience and long track record of applied research and development that has delivered breakthrough changes in materials, properties, fracture mechanics, processes and highly efficient mechanical design that truely comprehends the limitations and compromises between manufacturing techniques, price, volume, quality and complexity of part design.

Phantom Speedbikes founder Dr Timothy Corbett considers himself to be very fortunate to lay claim to distinction of being the originating inventor of the Carbon Fibre Wheel for the 2005 Deakin FSAE team.  The carbon wheel became the forerunner to the highly successful and internationally acclaimed Carbon Revolution.

Tim brings a hand on approach to teaching and a life-long love of all things related to composite materials and components, has a broad range of understanding of composite fibre materials ranging from microsctructure and micromechanical behaviour all the way through to macro and full-scale application.

Tim is proud to hold a professional Engineering Registration through BLA Victoria.

We are extremely approachable.  Please reach out and get in contact to help solve your composite challenges.
